Learn more about Dr. Eaton

Dr. Eaton grew up in Fargo, ND. He is one of four children, and interestingly is an identical twin. Growing up, he remembers the loud snoring of his father until he was treated with CPAP. At the age of 20, his father passed away from a myocardial infarction. At the age of 22, Dr. Eaton and his twin brother were first diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea.

Dr. Eaton received his doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2010. Closely following his graduation and learning of dental sleep medicine he began traveling across the country to learn about managing apneic patients with oral appliance therapy (OAT). He began treating patients with OAT in 2011.

Dr. Eaton has been a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) since 2010. Additionally, he has held membership in the American Sleep and Breathing Academy and the National Sleep Foundation. In February 2015, Dr. Eaton was recognized as Diplomate, American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. He is one of approximately 250 dentists in the country with this recognition. As of January 1, 2016, he is the only dentist in the state of North Dakota with this recognition.

Dr. Eaton is very passionate about sleep apnea knowing the consequences on a person’s life it can have. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on obstructive sleep apnea to help educate other dentists in how to manage the disease. Recently, Dr. Eaton was honored to lecture at the annual meeting or the American Orthodontics Society in Clearwater, FL in October, 2015 about OSA.

In July 2015, Dr. Eaton had a case study published in the Journal of Dental Sleep Medicine titled, “Combination Therapy of Oral Appliance and Auto-Titrating CPAP of Patient with Edentulous Maxillary Arch.” The case demonstrated the management of a very severe apneic who was able to be managed successfully with addition of oral appliance even though he didn’t have teeth on his top jaw.

In August 2015, Dr. Eaton returned home to Fargo, ND to found Valley Dental Sleep Therapy at 1338 Gateway Dr. S, Fargo, ND 58103. He is thrilled to bring his expertise back to his hometown in the FM community.
